It lives in a range of habitats, including dry savannahs and tropical rainforests, and is also a capable swimmer.

As there were no native mammalian predators on the island, the Komodo Dragon was able to grow to its large size and become the apex predator of its region. Males can reach a length of 3m (10ft) and weigh around 70kg (150lbs), with females being slightly smaller. The Komodo Dragon, native to a series of Indonesian islands, is the world's largest lizard.
